Telefomin MP, Solan Mirisim, saysTelefomin District of West Sepik Province is in dire need of vital government services.
Mirisim said this is because of the distance and remoteness from the Sandaun provincial capital.
While the government is spending millions of Kina to bring tangible services into remote areas of Papua New Guinea; Telefomin District still suffers.
The isolated district situated at the peak of the Star Mountains in the West Sepik Province has seen very little government services over the years.
These is only one medical facility that provides health supplies to the four districts of Telefomin, Yapsie, Nameia, Oksapmin.
Schools in the area have faced shortages of teachers and limited classrooms to cater for the increasing enrolment of students, every year.
Meanwhile, the district has come to the aid of constructing a new health facility, cell block for the police station, erection of new classrooms for Telefomin High School and building houses for teacher’s accommodation.
This project comes from the funds used under the Telefomin District’s Support and Improvement Funds.
