Team Koboni Receives Backing

Team Koboni is still up and running while keeping their longtime fans in the loop.

Koboni is one of the longest serving AFL teams, being involved in Port Moresby AFL since 1965.

Team Koboni is a local Port Moresby team, as well as the other 9 teams participating in the Port Moresby AFL competitions.

Team Koboni has been very successful with its athletes, and still new and upcoming ALF lovers are joining in, making the team bigger.

The team has started to attract interest from local business people who have recognized their potential in the skills they bring to the table.

Club Patron John Kali from Brendon Coombs, Managing Director of Concept Group Ltd was on hand to receive a cheque and other merchandise given in support of the team.

The team was presented with a cheque of K4,000 plus other donated goods, reaching a total of K10, 000. The money will go towards new uniforms for the players and other necessary equipment for the players.

The name of the team will change from Koboni to Concept Koboni after some negotiations amongst the players and club Patron.

The team will receive ongoing support from The Concept Group Limited.

As of round 6, the Kobonis were at the front of the pack as the winning team. They won last weekend and are on top after round 7. They had only one loss so far this season and that was against Lamana Dockers the weekend before last week.

As the longest existing club in Port Moresby, the Kobonis will celebrate their 50th anniversary next year.
