Central Province will be sending a large contingent of athletes and officials to the 6th PNG Games come November in Lae.
Topping the list are athletics and canoeing, possible gold medal sporting codes for Team Central.
They will be participating in twenty five sports out of the twenty nine.
Only three months to go before the athletes and officials converge to Lae, and already preparation works are visible on the hosting venues.
Six hundred athletes and officials for Team Central will be up and about, participating in 25 sporting codes.
The Team settled came third in the 2012 PNG Games in Kokopo.
Team Central’s prospect for the 6th PNG Games is to collect Gold in all participating sports, and will not be easy beats in volleyball, boxing, weightlifting, swimming, canoeing, netball, table tennis and track events in athletics.
Yesterday, Kairuku Hiri MP, Peter Isoaimo, presented a cheque of K100, 000, as part of his electorate’s contribution to the Team.
Kairuku Hiri electorate has chipped in gold contenders to the team and has been keeping record of studded track athletes from Mainohana Secondary school.
Team Central executive committee members assured Mr. Isoaimo and the people of Central province, that they would be good ambassadors at the games.
They also noted the importance of sports in the province, and how to go about identifying and grooming talented athletes from the PNG Games for the 2015 Pacific Games and going forward.
The athletes are currently under training.
