Storms Outdo Sharks

By Dion Kombeng – EMTV Sports, Port Moresby

The Cronulla Sharks were held scoreless at home against the might of the Melbourne Storm in Monday Night Football.

The Storms defense proved to be the winner with great goal line defense preventing the Sharks from scoring.

With a position in the top four on the line, the Sharks and Storms were both just as eager for a win.

Cronullas were first to post points on the scoreboard, with Michael Gordon taking a penalty to see the Sharks take an early lead seven minutes into the contest.

But just four minutes later, Jesse Bromwhich opened the scoring for Melbourne.

The Storms crossed again just minutes later when they shifted the ball to the right giving Matt Duffie enough room to score.

The sharks looked dangerous in the second half but were unable to convert into points.

But the first points of the half came in the 66th minute with a clever kick from Will Chambers down the short side which Duffie picked up to score.

The storm grabbed two late tries, to Dale Finucane and Cameron Munster to seal the match 30 points to 2, Cameron Smith had his kick boot on with 5 from 5 shots at goal.
