Spouses of Regional Leaders visit Caritas School

The Pacific Islands Forum may be primarily about the leaders involved, but their spouses are also being entertained here in Port Moresby this week.

Today, they visited the Caritas Technical Secondary School in the nation’s capital. The delegation was led by host, Lynda Babao-O’Neill.

On arrival at the all-girls school, the women were presented with necklaces called ‘bagi, originating from the Milne Bay Province.

They group was treated to a range of entertainment by the students, including traditional dances from the Milne Bay Province and song performances by PNG’s renowned musician Buruka Tau, along with with his daughters.

The delegation was then taken on a tour of the school to see the different academic and technical skills being taught.

They visited the school’s library, the computer lab, sewing department, grooming section and the cooking department where they were invited to complete a muffin project with creative icing designs.

During the week they also visited the Nature Park, the Buk Bilong Pikinini Library and took a boat cruise around Fairfax Harbour.

Tomorrow, the spouses will meet with the PNG Women in Business group.
