2006 Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist, Dika Toua has done it again winning the first medal for Team PNG at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

She has set a new commonwealth record of 111kg in the clean and jerk and settled for silver in the 53 Kilograms division. She is the first woman to compete in weightlifting at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games silver medalist was forced to attempt 115 Kg to win in her final clean and jerk.

 

The veteran weightlifter and a mother of two was considered favourite from the 13 Pacific nations competing at the Glasgow Games with Fiji represented for the first time since 2006, with Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko on hand to present her the medal.

 

To cricket, the ITI Port Moresby Cricket competition held both it’s finals series over the weekend. The top four teams that qualified included, Poreporena, Raukele, United and Hoods, all of which had good form throughout the season.

 

United were strong in their semi-final performance against Hoods and likewise Raukele defeated poreporena… now both teams face off in the grand-final of the ITI Port Moresby Cricket Competition.
