It’s on again, the prestigious SP Sports Awards which gives prominence to sporting personnel for their tremendous achievements in their sporting careers.
The annual prestigious night recognizes sporting heroes, technical officials, coaches, distinguished services to sports, administrators and even the media personnel.
The achievements, efforts and sheer determination on the sporting arena will be shown at the awards night.
The 22nd SP Sport Awards was launched today in front of the Sports Ministry, PNG Olympic Committee, PNG Sports Foundation, Pacific Games Organizing Committee and the sponsors including EMTV
Hebou PNG Barramundi’s star batsman and 2013 Sports Man of the year Assadoh Vala, treated the event as one of the significant highlights of his sporting career.
Vala has created history for Papua New Guinea and East- Asia Pacific region along with Barras’ skipper Chris Amini by being the first players to be signed by an Australian franchise team in the T20 Big Bash League.
SP Brewery has been backing the Awards since the inception of the ceremony.
Under the SP Sports Awards Organizing Committee, the challenge has always been to present the awards bigger, better and going forward.
The Awards night is set on the 24th of May, 2014 with the new chairperson to head the selection panel.
Moses Koirii a well-known name in the code of basketball replaces Emily Taule. Taule previously led the Selection Panel for the last 7 years.
Nomination for 14 categories is now open and will be closed on Monday the 31st of March, 2014.
