South/Waghi AnglimpAccount Over-drawn

The accounts for the Office ofthe Member for AnglimpSouth Waghi in Jiwaka Province is inthe red. Member Komun Joe Koim revealed this when he presented a cheque to assist flood victims in his electorate.

Mr Koim said when he took office,the accounts were overdrawn by one thousand five hundred kina.

Sincethe floods devastated much of AnglimpSouth Waghi in October last year, nothing has been done to assistthe victims. The local MP’saidthere were no funds.

Some good news after 7 months, Mr Koim received K500, 000 from Prime Minister Peter O’Neill to provide flood relief supplies to his people. On hand, wasthe Acting District Administrator Frank Backs.

Since several officers fromthe District Office are under investigation for alleged misappropriation. The Member has already changedthe accounts with new signatories to releasethe funds immediately.
