Solomon warns Klapat not to mislead public

Acting Secretary ofthe Department of Community Development Anna Solomon has warned suspended Secretary Joseph Klapat of contempt of court.

She saidthe lLeadersip issue betweenthem is beforethe courts and he should not declare legitimacy as Secretary.

Her comments follow a media conference whereby Mr. Klapat said he was.

Ms Solomom warned Mr Klapat not to misleadthe public, she said this is contemptuous.

“Andthe substantive hearing has not taken place yet so every timethere is reporting on this case between Klapat and I can be contemptuous as well,” says Solomon.

Last week Thursday, Mr Klapat stated that asthe duly appointed secretary he will continue to perform his mandated duties required underthe term of his employer’s contract.

He along with his supporting officers also levelled allegations of fraud and nepotism againstthe acting secretary.

 Ms Solomon maintains thatthe department id intact and that all staff are focused on delivering programs for this year, and that she is recognised asthe departmental head until such timethe court revokes this.

“We don’t know whenthe substantive hearing will be heard but status co is I am in charge and I will continue to work withthe government and ther stakeholders,” says Ms Solomon.

She welcomes any investigations into allegations levelled against her by Mr Klapat and his team. She added not futher to discuss this issue in public and to live it withthe national court.

Meantime, The Government has moverd to endthe lLeadersip tassel for the secretary’s position inthe department of community development.

A submission is now before cabinet to remover both Anna Solomon,the acting secretary and Joseph Klapat,the suspended secretary. The matter is now beforethe courts.

Minister responsible for the departmentoLoujaya Toni, said a new secretary will be appointed to lead.
