Rangers Win Lauta Cup Tournament

Stiky Rangers have walked home champions of the Lauta Cup Tournament.

The Rangers from Hutjena in Buka defeated Buin United in the grand final over the weekend.

Rangers won 2-1 in a very strong close encounter.

Their win marks the end of the four day Lauta Cup Tournament which was held in Buka, North Bougainville.

Meanwhile North Bougainville MP, Lauta Atoi, initiated the tournament because he wanted to see a peaceful Festivity, and for youths to be engaged in meaningful activities.

Bougainville Football Association President, Justin Helele, has also has praised the North Bougainville MP, for this initiative.

Mr Helele said this will develop sportsmanship in the autonomous region and raise more awareness on peace and reconciliation on the island

“I would like to thank Mr Atoi for committing K50,000 towards the Lauta Cup Tournament,” he said.
