While the country is anticipating for Mother Nature to send rain, some decided to make it happen.
At 8:05am today, Radio station, 99.5 Rait FM hosted the first ever synchronized Rain Dance.
They hoped it might assist in breaking the current drought.
A good number of people turned up at the radio station and joined the performers.
Rait FM’s ‘Breakfast Team’, Elton Kili and Bata Kings with PNG’s known comedians, Watete and Holex, performed in front of the station, while listeners joined at various locations to create PNG’s biggest ever synchronized rain-dance.
The dance was staged in the hope that the skies will open up and break the long dry spell.
The rain-dance choreographed, encompasses elements of the various regions of PNG in the hope that rain will fall, depending on our cultural beliefs.
While the team was rehearsing the steps last week, showers were coming so they saw this as a promising sign.
Prime Minister. Peter O’Neill. endorsed the initiative and joined the rain-dance in Alotau.
