The PNG Rugby Football Union has announced their team to the Hong Kong Sevens next week.
Samoan born Koroseta Veni will make his debut for the national team in Hong Kong, while Henry Kahlua has taken over captaincy the responsibilities. Tissa Kautu has named as a utility.
Douglas Guise says while the team has not had any international matches leading into the Hong Kong Sevens, they are very much prepared for the tournament, kick starting on Friday April 8.
The PNG Pukpuks will depart for Hong Kong on Monday to prepare for their first game on Friday, April 18.
While draws are yet to be released, Guise says the team will not take any of their opponents lightly, as they are aware they will be up against countries that have play sevens rugby consistently, leading into this year’s qualifiers.
Henry Kalua will lead the team as captain with Manu Guise, Hensley Peter, Wesley Vali and Arthur Clement all obvious features.
William Tirang is the newest inclusion, selected straight out of the sevens program. Tirang is a prospect Guise believes will be vital to the national team in the long run.
