Port Moresby to Host Arts & Culture Meetings

Port Moresby will host two important regional meetings this week as it prepares for the 5th Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture in 2014.

 

On Wednesday will bethe Council of Arts and Culture which involves senior cultural officials fromthe MSG countries.

And, on Fridaythe MSG Ministersof Arts and Culture.

 

Among ther issues that will be discussed, priority will be given tPNG’s preparations as host tothe 5th Melanesian Festival of Arts & Culture. 

 

 

“What normally happens is thatthe cultural officials who comprisethe Melanesian Arts and Cultural Council will go through some decisions and resolutions.” said Dr Simet.

“And on Friday, it’s for the Ministersto considerthe resolutions or any proposals ether for adaption or re-examination and so forth,” he said.

Dr Simet also announced that it will be an opportunity for the council and Ministersto visit’some ofthe areas which will host segments ofthe festival of arts and culture.

 

A majority ofthe festival will be held in Port Moresby, while ther centres are yet to be announced.

 

Tourism and Hospitality students’fromthe University of Papua New Guineahave been engaged to participate inthe meetings as well.

 

Displayingtheir uniforms, Dr Simet saidthe NCC wishes to see more youths involvedthe work of preservingthe arts and culture.

 

Delegates fromthe MSG countries are expected to arrive inthe country today and on Wednesday.
