Port Moresby Rugby League Season Shortened

Port Moresby Rugby League (PRL) in the nation’s capital has shortened their competition schedule from 14 rounds to seven due to the upcoming U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Each team, both male and female, now only have six rounds remaining before they go into their knock-out matches, in the lead up to the grand final.

PRL Operations Manager, Meke Maino, said necessary adjustments had to be made to the 14 affiliated clubs for the 2016 season.

With the entire season shortened into split rounds each week, two teams will secure two points each in both divisions.

At the end of the seventh week, all 14 affiliated clubs under the PRL will have completed their regular rounds and all teams should go into knock-out, with the grand final to be staged in the last week of August.
