Kopex’s hopes of advancing further up the ladder in the Port Moresby Men’s Softball League were dented as a Gazelle outfit, looking for a placing in the finals, managed to hold out after being evenly matched.
A total of four teams currently share 2nd spot and Gazelle needed a win to maintain their current placing.
Kopex however were hoping for an improvement in their form and looked set early on with good fielding.
Gazelle, led by pitcher Mele Tarakau, were able to contain the Kopex attack.
Gazelle however, were very determined and had good cover all over the diamond, winning 5 runs to 4.
With Brother’s and Defence leading the way, Yokomo were intent on carrying on their momentum from their earlier win over PNG Power.
Gazelle are under pressure to maintain their position at number four from the top and a win would put them in good stead, however, if Yokomo should win, they will end up in first place.
With the competition very tight after two rounds, clubs will be counting on every hit they can get.
