POM ‘A Grade’ Basketball League Competition

Port Moresby’s men and women basketball league A-Grade competitions were on court yesterday at the Aquatic in the sports Center

The men’s competition saw six men’s teams in a heated challenge.

Many new players in their respective teams were drawn from their development side.

Event Coordinator Eric Elai said the teams only started playing in the competition due to certain problems faced by the clubs.

Many of the young players in both teams were from the development program, who played in the A-grade division.

Men’s A-grade Coordinator, Eric Elai said, many young players that are supposed to play in Under 17, 18 and 20 played in the A grade Division, because of their experience in the code.

He said the code of basketball in the country is slowly growing, as many great players in the code have represented PNG internationally.

He further added that both the men and women’s team have already been selected to represent team NCD at this year PNG Games in Kimbe.
