Police Officers warned against Beutality

NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Andy Bewa has warned all police officers to uphold integrity when performingtheir duties.

The top cop says recent cases of police brutality have tarnishedthe name ofthe force.

The police force has come underthe spot light in recent weeks for allthe wrong reasons.

Mr. Bewa referred specifically to those two incidents: One, where two men were ordered by police to perform indecent acts in Port Moresby, andthe ther a police officer belting a female with a fan-belt in downtown Port Moresby.

Bewa contendsthese are unacceptable conducts.

Withthe government’s approval of K276m for the police modernisation program such behaviour by police will not be tolerated.

Bewa says an investigation has been launched and those officers found to be involved will be dealt with.

He urgedthe public to also take ownership and report any cases of police brutality. This will help intheir investigation to bring justice tothe victims.
