Police Media Proposes a Closer Network for Pacific Games

By Theckla Gunga – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Police Media is proposing a closer working network with main stream media for the coverage of the Pacific Games.

With just 167 days to go before the games, the nation will see more awareness on the Games made through the media.

In its first media coverage strategy meeting today, Inspector David Terry from the police media urged all media organizations to work in union in preparing for the 2015 Games.

He said this is the first time Police Media will be taking part in planning such a major police event and needs the support of the main stream media to further extend information to the public.

Terry said from time to time press releases will be released from members of the Police Hierarchy informing public on the different police operations that will be conducted.

This would include information on traffic diversion, crowd moment and other public information.

With such a huge task placed upon police media, frequent meetings between advertising managers and sales representatives from all media outlets are expected to occur in the weeks leading up to the Games.

Some media outlets have already received checks and other upfront payments to run advertisements and promotion for Games.
