Oil Search Pledges to Support PNG Football Association

By Dion Kombeng – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Oil Search has pledged their support to the PNG Football Association by confirming they are working with PNGFA President David Chung, to finalise arrangements for the completion of the National Football Stadium.

This announcement comes after FIFA officials questioned PNG’s ability to host the tournament.

In a recent trip to PNG in August, FIFA delegates were uncertain whether the country’s sporting facilities met the requirements to host the Under-20 Women’s World Cup.

FIFA gave PNG until mid-October to meet all the necessary requirements to stage the event, one being that the country must have 16 training sites.

Oil Search are working with PNGFA to fast track the construction of the National Football Stadium, otherwise formerly known Lloyd Robson Oval.

The National Football Stadium has been constructed to comply with National Rugby League guidelines and governing codes that allow NRL games to be played at the stadium.
