PNG Women Encouraged to Work Together

“I would love for each of you to work with one another.”

These were the words of Margo Fripp, Founder and President of Empower Women International, at the 2015 PNG Women’s Forum in Port Moresby.

The award-winning social entrepreneur and international consultant on women’s leadership and empowerment led a seminar on day two of the forum on “Best practises in business and organisational management.” Margo and her organisation has worked with over 3, 000 women since 2002 to improve their lives and making an impact on the financial security of families & strengthening communities.

In addressing the forum, she said that in the 21st century it was important to remember that it was extremely difficult for anyone to succeed in life, on his or her own. “We are not isolated islands, we belong to each other,” said Fripp.

A former journalist originally from Romania, and now living in the United States, Fripp encouraged women to share information and knowledge; and to gain inspiration and courage from each other.

She said that it was crucial for women leaders to build a culture of unity, trust and respect amongst themselves, and to lead with humanity.

Fripp spoke of her life of growing up in a poor family; the challenges she faced as a journalist and starting up her own business, to help marginalised women.

She maintains that women, of all ages, must listen to their inner voice, their heart, and know their purpose in life. She encouraged women to be transparent in their work, business dealings and in their organisations.

Women were told to be open to share, collaborate and to be open about results, to gain respect and trust. They were told to work with meaning and to bring selfless leadership into their organisations, as women leaders of Papua New Guinea.

Fripp told participants of the forum to find courage, and to believe in the power of accomplishing dreams, ideas, and aspirations.

Margo Fripp has worked with women from all walks of life, to empower them to pursue their dreams.
