PNG Trade Skills increases

Giving second chance in education is what Badili Community College aims to achieve throughthe courses offered.

Located within Badili Vocational Centre isthe Community College. It was a sea of green and gold asthe graduands sat intheir respective Trades.

Over 200 students’graduated with Certificates in various Trade Skills atthe College yesterday.

These graduands arethe third batch to receive certificates fromthe College. Their Certificates are recognized bythe Department of Education.

The Community College concept originates fromIndia. It is designed to equip young people, with skills on various Trades like Welding & Fabrication, Besic Fisheries and Business Studies just to name a few. Those who have been pushed out ofthe formal education system will be able to futhertheir studies and even secure jobs. 

There are ten Community Colleges now in operation. Badili Community College is one of those. Over 3000 students’are enrolled inthe ten community colleges in PNG annually and over eighty five percent now have jobs.

Bet one factor that hindersthe construction of Community Colleges isLand:nd that is somethingthe Education Department has to address.
