Papua New Guinea will host the 12th Annual meeting of Pacific Islands Tax Administrator’s Association next week in Port Moresby.
The PNG Internal Revenue Commission will host the meeting which is themed “Modernising Tax Administration in the Region”.
Agenda items include; enhancing transparency and exchange of information for tax purposes; latest trends in taxpayer Audits and Debt Collection; and introducing modern taxpayer services.
Attending the 3-day conference are heads of Tax Administrations from the 13 Pacific Island countries, with representatives from the Australian Tax Office, New Zealand Inland Revenue Department, International Monetary Fund, World Bank and Asian Development Bank attending as observers.
As agreed by the members in Fiji during the 11th Annual meeting in 2013, the Republic of Marchall Islands will act as hosts in 2017 meeting. Members also agreed to Fiji and Vanuatu’s offers to host the 2016 and 2018 meetings respectively.
