Judo athlete Raymond Ovinou will be making his second appearance in the Olympics, now only two weeks away.
Ovinou, who qualified on merit, is hopeful to bring back a medal for PNG as he learnt a lot from his first Olympic experience in 2012.
The PNG Olympic Committee (PNGOC) is pleased with his performances in the lead up tournaments that led to his Olympic qualification.
PNGOC General Secretary, Auvita Rapilla, praised Ovinou stating that he is one of the very few athletes that qualified on merit.
She said competition on a global level is tough and for Ovinou to make it this far is quite an achievement.
PNGOC Fundraising Chairman, Syd Yates, added that Ovinou will be making his second Olympic appearance and he will be competing against the best in the world.
