PM O’Neill endorses nine candidates in Eastern Highlands province

Monday 18th June, 2012 (PM’s Media Unit) – Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has officially endorsed nine candidates to contest under his Peoples National Congress Party (PNC) banner for electorates in the Eastern Highlands province.

The candidates are Peti Lafanama for Eastern Highlands Provincial Seat, Benny Allan for Unggai Bena Open, Mathias Ijape for Goroke Open, Dr. Nime Kapo for Daulo Opne, Issac Waigavara for Okapa Open electorate, Ovo Buni Kako for Kainantu Open and Dr. John Koigiri for Obura Waninara Open electorate.

He flew to Goroka (15/06/12) on Friday and endorsed these candidates before flying over to Kainantu to address more than twenty-thousand people who were gathered there to receive him as the first Prime Minister to visit that area.

The Prime Minister endorsed ninety candidates under the PNC Party banner and was confident of returning to Parliament with more than seventy per cent of the candidates to form the next Government.

In Kainantu, thousands of people, especially school students and their parents could not control their emotions and swept openly naming Mr O’Neill as the father of education in PNG.

Today, the Prime Minister is touring several electorates in the Southern Highlands province to endorse candidates under the PNC Party ticket.
