National Planning Minister Charles Abel wants provincial planners to make practical plans for service needs ofthe people, in respective electorates.
Planners, atthe National, provincial and district level are in Port Moresby to be made aware ofthe Government’s new policy directions to fund all projects and programs underthe National Budget.
The two day meeting atthe HolidayInn Hotel was opened yesterday by Minister Charles Abel.
Minister Abel highlighted tothe planersthe government’s aspirations to physically reachthe people with developments.
Ofthe 2013 Development BudgetoK1.492 million or 26% has been allocated to direct funding to provinces, districts and LLGs.
He said provincial administrators must work openly withthe open Members of parliament to outlinethe priority areas intheir respective plans.
Whenthe planners return back totheir respective provinces to plan, it will be a challenge butthey are aware ofthe processes.
For new Jiwaka province, its new provincial planner is ready to consult and plan.
The planners have until end of June to submittheir five year plan for each province and electorate.
Meanwhile, experts on various development issues are in Mendi, Southern Highlands Province for the Provincial Development Forum.
The two day forum has started on Wednesday and ends today. Feedback fromthe forum will helpthe provincial government develop a five year plan for the province.
