Discussions on the removal of carvings at the National Parliament have resurfaced.
This time, more than 100 pastors have summoned Prime Minister Peter O'Neill and Speaker Theo Zurenuoc to a Forum next month.
Spokesperson, Pastor Joseph Walters, says the Prime Minister and Speaker have been summoned to tell the nation and its people what the identity of PNG is.
They say the removal of carvings were an answer to their prayers over the years.
Pastors say they have difficulties in attaching carved images to national culture and identity and say PNG does not have a national culture and identity yet.
They also cleared the air on rumours that they were behind the speaker’s actions to remove the carvings, adding that they had nothing to do with the demolition of the totem pole.
In the meantime, about 107 pastors attended a meeting earlier and agreed to hold this forum. Only catholic and SDA churches did not attend.
