Palais Returns with Disappointment

City Pharmacy Palais returned home after a disappointing, but good experience atthe Oceania 7’s Tournament in Noosa Australia.

PNG Palais lost to currentWorld 7s champions New Zealand 48-nil.

 

Their next game against Samoa ended with a 7-all draw. The third game saPNG lose to Australia 48-0, and inthe last gamethe Palais went down to Fiji 52-nil inthe five-team tournament.

 

Their chances to make it intothe finals on Sunday were dashed when on a count back on, for and against points were edged out by Samoa.

 

Preparations for the tournament started onthe wrong note when five ofthe 12 women’s quad stayed back in Port Moresby due to visas not received on time.

 

The seven players who travelled to Noosa first trliedtheir best especially against Samoa.

 

Coach Cecil Davani said administrative preparations in getting passports and visas are just as important as preparingthe team at training.

 

Coach Davani saysthe women can holdtheir heads up high after playing againstthe best teams inthe Oceania region.

 

The City Pharmacy Palais will now focus ontheir participation atthe Asia Pacific Womenrsquo;s 7s Championships in Shanghai, China atthe end ofthe month.

 

PNG won’this tournament in 2011 and came third last year.

 

Palais will be looking to bettertheir performance this time around.
