NCD Governor Powes Parkop and Moresby South MP Justin Tkatchenko has awarded scholarships to over five hundred students’last week.
It was a sigh of relief for these parents inthe Moresby South electorate asthey withnessedthe presentation of forty five cheques for their children’s education this year.
The scholarships are worth over one million kina.
They are part ofthe two MP’sTechnical Vocational Education TrainingInitiative to empower youths inthe nation’s capital.
One hundred and fifty six students’were selected fromtheInternational TrainingInstitute,the highest number of scholarships awarded for this year.
ther vocational and technical schools included IEA college of TAFE, Port Moresby Technical School, Works TrainingInstitute and Don Besco TechnicalInstitute.
The local MP Justin Tkatchenko urgedthe students’to contribute meaningful back tothe community and country.
Mr. Tkatchenko saidthe selection process was done without fear or favour and that awards were issued on merits.
