Kerema Coronation Secondary School Raises Funds for New Lab

A school in the Gulf Province is raising funds to build a brand new science laboratory.

The Kerema Coronation Secondary School hosted a corporate dinner this week in Port Moresby.

Elites from the province were invited to attend and were given the opportunity to contribute towards the worthy cause.

The corporate dinner held for the secondary school aimed to raise K800,000 on the evening. Several distinguished people attended in the likes of former Gulf Governor, Chris Haiveta, Higher Education Secretary Prof. David Kavanamur and women leaders, Susan Setae and Janet Sape.

The school has seen improvements in recent times after years of neglect. This year, the school will graduate its pioneer grade 12 students.

The school has a total of 663 students and the school wants to ensure that those taking Chemistry, Physics and Biology subjects have access to the practical aspects of their education.

The principal said the Parents & Citizens Association has agreed to pay K425 for day students and K550 for boarding students to address some of the urgent issues.
