The Opposition congratulated Chief Dr John Momis in his consecutive election as the President of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB).
Opposition Leader, Don Polye, said despite many obstacles the Autonomous Government faced before the election, he applauded the people of Bougainville for a peaceful democratic election.
Mr Polye also commended the appointment of former Chief Ombudsman, Simon Pentanu, as the new speaker for the House of Representatives. He said Pentanu is now tasked with a huge responsibility to protect the integrity of the chair and the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, Mr Polye said the opposition will continue to support AROB in its development goals.
Polye said Bougainville remains a ‘special island’ in Papua New Guinea and the rebuilding of the island is a must for the National Government and the Opposition.
