Recognizing the signs and symptoms of mental disorders is crucial and everyone must be able to recognize them.
We highlight in this episode the Laloki Psychiatric Hospital located 15 kilometres outside Port Moresby City which is the only long term hospital the country has. This hospital gets patients throughout the country and according to long serving staff on ground; the hospital lacks in so many areas and needs improvement. They believe these improvements will help boost the hospital’s services to the patients.
The identification and management of mental illnesses in PNG is a must so that these patients can be treated accordingly.
