The long wait in anticipation has come to end with the official swearing in of Prime Minister elect Peter O'Neil by the Governor Sir Micheal Ogio.
Governor General Sir Micheal Ogio congratulated Peter O'Neil on his appoinment and urged him to perform his duty as a true leader.
Three former Prime Ministers Grand Cheif Sir Michael Somare, Sir Julius Chan and Paias Wingti were present during Peter O'Neil swearing in.
Prime Minister Peter O'Neil swore on oath to provide the leadership that the country needs.
His is the Prime Minister for the ninth parliament and will be announcing his caretaker government this afternoon.
