NRL Round 24 Review

by Dion Kombeng – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

With the pointy end of the season well and truly in full swing, Round 24 of the NRL potentially saw the cream rise to the top.

Friday evening saw the Canterbury Bulldogs show their strength against the Rabbitohs, with a 32-18 win. South Sydney lost their skipper, Greg Inglis, 10 minutes out from full time with a knee injury. He’ll see doctors this week to find out how long he’ll have on the sidelines.

The Sharks regrouped after their loss last weekend with a huge win over the Tigers, 40-18, thanks in part to a pair of tries to Valentine Homes.

The Cowboys got back in the winner’s circle with a massive 50-16 win over the Warriors. The New Zealanders didn’t stand a chance against the North Queenslanders, as they ran havoc over the team from across the Tasman.

The Roosters now sit atop NRL ladder thanks to a superior for and against, followed by the Broncos and Cowboys. All teams sit on 36 points apiece.

The Roosters made it to top spot following a thrilling victory over the Broncos, 12-10. The Roosters were in dire straits, having just the lone player left on their interchange bench over the final minutes of the match.

And finally, in Sunday afternoon action, the Titans and Eels managed to get wins over the Raiders and Sea Eagles respectively.
