Housing and Urbanisation Minister, John Kaupa, has told Parliament that most properties owned by National Housing Corporation were sold without proper notices. Minister Kaupa said work on reviewing all these sales has commenced.
The Housing Minister was responding to questions in Parliament following the recent evictions around the country. Markham MP, Tony Iguan, says those using fake titles must be held responsible by NHC.
Recent evictions in Lae and Port Moresby have seen former public servants being evicted. Most have lived on their property for the past 30 years.
The Markham MP says all these must come to a stop. Housing Minister, John Kaupa, responded stating past NHC Management was selling NHC properties without the consent of line managers.
He said details of sale remain undisclosed. Minister Kaupa also told the House that a recovery team is going around the country to take account of all NHC properties.
He also urged property owners to be mindful and report any sale that is suspicious.
