New National Housing Corporation Board

By Godwin Eki – EMTV News, Port Moresby

The National Housing Corporation welcomed five new Board Members this week.

They are;

  • Simon Vai,
  • Richard Sinamoi
  • Vera Raga
  • Edric Kelai and
  • Maria Kopkop

All five were sworn into office this week, witnessed by Housing Minister John Kaupa.

According to Minister Kaupa, the NHC had been operating without a Board since 2016, which was regrettable, but with these appointments, the Board is now expected to guide the NHC on how to improve its services, as well as find ways to generate much needed-revenue.

The Housing Minister says all five were appointed through stringent processes.

Newly appointed Chairman, Edric Kelai, thanked the Minister and the Government for the confidence in the new board of NHC, and pledged the Board’s support to delivering on targets set.

The National Housing Corporation has many issues to resolve, a point not lost on the NHC’s Chairman – with the Chairman, and fellow Board members keen to meet with NHC staff in the coming weeks to set out how this Government organiSation can improve its performance going forward.
