New Ireland Triathlon Awarded SP Sports Award

The New Ireland Triathlon Academy – Tri Kids Program has been awarded an SP Sports Award in the Community Sports Initiative category.

Rachel James, who was on hand to accept the award, said that New Ireland Triathlon started in 2015 and has grown in popularity.

James herself has seen success of late, recently finishing second at the Oceania Triathlon in the Elite Female Category.

She said it was fantastic to receive such recognition, and the award is reflective of the fantastic work being done in New Ireland through the program.

Meanwhile, James will be in Australia in a few weeks time to continue her elite squad training with her coach, Toby Coote.

James said she looks forward to bringing back new technical skills and resources to further develop the sport of triathlon in Papua New Guinea.
