New French Ambassador Positive on Improving Relations

New French Ambassador to Papua New Guinea Pascal Maubert (pronounced as MO-Be), is very positive on improving relations between Port Moresby and Paris.

Areas where he hopesthe two countries can build on include education, business, and more importantly, issues of climate change mitigation, and person-to-person contact.

 

Ambassador Maubert (MO-Be) presented his credentials to Governor General Sir Michael Ogio this week, and says he was surprised atthe long history France has had with Papua New Guinea dating back to early missionary days.

 

“We sharethe same concerns such asthe environment and climate change,” said Ambassador Maubert.

“We are ready to share those concerns and are also ready for the negotiations to come,” he said.
