Nawaeb Acquits Funds

The Nawaeb District was the first district to acquit their District Services Improvement Program Funds by submitting their acquittals to Finance today.

Finance Minister, James Marape, while commending this district, called on other MPs and governors to also furnish their reports to be qualified for 2014 funds.

Gisuat Siniwin is the first Open member to submit his DSIP acquittals to the finance department.

While accounting for the K10 million he received as DSIP funds last year, he thanked the government for making available this money for districts to use, and said he was happy to present his report.

Submission of the acquittals is a prerequisite to access funds for the New Year as stipulated in the Public Finance Management Act.

Therefore Finance Minister James Marape called on the other MPs to also acquit their funds as a pre-requisite to access funds for 2014.

He said Nawaeb district was now qualified to access 2014 DSIP funds and he will release the first batch next week.

He said so much money has been given to provinces, districts and LLGs last year, totalling K12.5 billion and he expects reports from everyone as to how these monies were spent.
