National Rural Electrification Program Launched in Bulolo

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Segayo village in Bulolo District launched the Government’s Rural Electrification Program on Friday.

Bulolo MP Sam Basil, Morobe Governor and Member for Goilala William Samb, including other government officers, joined the people of Buang to witness the launch of their rural electrification program.

The Bulolo MP held hands with NEA Secretary, Vore Veve to launch the program.

Cabinet endorsed the National Energy Policy 2018 to 2028 in February.

The National Energy Policy 2018 to 2028 will be implemented by the National Rural Electrification Roll-out Program (NEROP).

The soon to be established National Energy Authority will adopt district plans to roll out the program.

Minister Basil says the rural electrification program is not new, and the Government’s intention is to light up 1000 houses across the country. The Energy Minister urged other districts in the country to partner with NEA.

Electricity is one service the National Government plans to implement in all rural areas of the country.
