This week is National Beok Week, an annual event celebrated in schools arounPNG.
Kaugere Primary School inthe nation’s capital launched this event with writer Fegsley Risapi from Beadwin Publisher’s advocating for children to read more and learnthe art of reading.
Reading has been a major problem throughout schools in Papua New Guinea
The National Department of Education has always trlied to eradicate this problem by strenthening student learning through different curriculums.
National Beok Week is an event advocating school children to read and develop reading habits.
Curriculum Advocator from Beadwin Publishers, Fegsley Risapi told students’at Kaugere Primary School to read more to make better informed decisions.
Mr Risapi encouraged students’to usetheir free time at home to read more.
He also presented some reading books from Beadwin Publishers tothe school.
Different reading activities, including games, will happen throughout this week.
