Naming Athletes for the Pacific Games

By Skola Sengi – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Countries participating in the Pacific Games will now be able to register their athletes and officials via Sporting Pulse.

The ‘entry by name’ live database is the first of its’ kind to be used in the Pacific Games.

The Cook Islands were the first to utilise the database to register its athletes and officials.

Our Games Organising Committee (GOC) will be using the live database to crunch numerical data and begin the process of accreditation, travel and immigration, and sports results.

The Games Organising Committee’s Athletes Service Manager, Adelbert Gangai said:

“Our task becomes a lot easier as we are better able to understand the various needs of the competing athletes and we are able to advance our planning to meet those specific needs.”

Sharing the same sentiments, GOC Operations Executive Manager, Clint Flood also said “this is a major milestone in our preparation for the Games, reflective of a lot of hard work and commitment from the staff of the Athlete Services and Technology departments in working behind the scenes to make this possible.”
