Mineral Resource Development Company (MRDC) has put their hands up to be a major sponsor of the upcoming East Sepik Provincial Kickboxing tournament.
Today a cheque of K20, 000 was presented by MRDC Managing Director Augustine Mano, to Patron of East Sepik Boxing Association and Yangoru Saussia MP, Richard Maru.
The financial assistance was a huge sigh of relief for host organizers.
MRDC Managing Director Augustine Mano said the company is eager to support and drive sporting codes as a development tool in the country. “Kickboxing is a thriving sport in East Sepik”, he added.
Patron of East Sepik Kickboxing Club and Yangoru Saussia MP Richard Maru, welcomes the support and says the tournament will prepare fighters for the upcoming PNG Games in Lae later this year.
Apart from the financial support, Pacific Assurance Group also announced the sponsorship of the Death and Medical Expenses. This will cover the 280 kickboxers participating in the championship.
Yangoru Saussia District and the National Government also contributed K50, 000 each for the tournament.
The tournament will be held at the Yangoru Station from 9th to 11th July 2014.
