More Land Needed For Housing Projects

By Delly Waigeno – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The State needs to free up more land for housing projects to be developed in the cities and towns of Papua New Guinea.

These were comments from the National Housing Estate’s head of Special Projects, Madeline Paulisbo.

She spoke to EMTV after the official handover of titles for the new joint venture housing project undertaken by the National Housing Estate and development partner Bekerley Capital.

At a media conference yesterday, the Acting Secretary for the Department of Lands officially handed over 48 land titles to National Housing Estate (NHE), Executive Chairman, Kevin Ahipum.

This will now pave way for the K35 million joint venture housing project “Gobuta Street Estate” located at the Tokarara suburb.

NHE General Manager Special Projects, Madeline Paulisbo, said more land is needed for housing projects.

Acting Secretary for the Department of Lands, Luther Sipison, said today’s event marked the partnership between the Department and NHE.

Civil works on the 3.2 hectares “Gobuta Street Estate” project have been completed.

48 houses will be built to Australian standards with quality materials.
