More Calls for Increased Capacity Building

Calls have been made for increased capacity building and financial assistance tothe Districts for greater empowerment and development.

This was raised in Friday’s final activity sessions ofthe Consultative Implementation & Monitoring Councils National Forum.

The call was made tothe Government and development partners present atthe forum.

Participants atthe forum hadthe opportunity to discuss and share ideas on development issues affectingthem.

Many ofthem who work atthe LLG and ward levels cited lack of technical know-how and financial assistance in ensuring development takes place.

One ofthem was Gertrude Andrias (pictured), a business woman from Jiwaka Province.

Overthe course ofthe three day forum many presentations and discussion were made on how to revitalizethe districts in Papua New Guinea

CIMC Executive Officer Wallis Yakam saidthe forum was an opportunity to bring all stakeholders on a level playing field.

The forum aims to complimentthe governments year of implementation objective.

Recommendations will be compiled into an executive report and passed onto Planning Minister Charles Abel to table in Parliament.
