Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police for Momase, Nema Mondiai, is pleased with the progress of the West Sepik Regional by-election.
ACP Mondiai is in Vanimo to oversee the counting process, after a peaceful polling exercise.
“So far so good. I am happy with the police operations in the Sandaun Provincial Seat by-election. We have done well during the polling, and the counting was done last week, with the primary counts.
“These were completed on Monday, followed by the elimination process on Tuesday,” Mondiai said.
He said with the exception of the delays because of bad weather, there had been no major security issue.
On the general setting in Vanimo town, he said while counting was progressing at the Vanimo town market building, it was business as usual for residents of Vanimo, and the people of Sandaun province.
Police officers were supported by their sister discipline forces from the Correctional Service, and the soldiers.
