Built for the 2015 Pacific Games, the Port Moresby Racquets club introduced their doubles tournament, in squash, recently for the first time .
The mixed doubles squash tournament held in Port Moresby Racquets club, last week, was used to bring together squash players from around the country to take part in the club tournament.
Introduced for the first time, the tournament also attracted overseas squash players from Cairns to take part.
President, Tim Kriebisch says, next year the racquets club will look into running an actual competition to boost the interest of the doubles competition in different categories.
Kriebisch added, the development of junior players for both squash and tennis is also on the rise, and is hoping to draw more attention, by hosting open tournaments for the code of squash and tennis. With the code slowly gaining its popularity, the club is encouraging interested individuals to try out their beginner’s tournaments.
