Old age is a time when many activities are limited, and many are taken care of by their children until the latter parts of their life. Here’s an interesting story of how a near 100-year-old woman is living her life through her bowling career.
Mildred Bowie is a 99-year-old who will turn 100 on January 19. Although her age tells she is in her old age, Mildred doesn’t see herself as an old woman, instead being very energetic, active and healthy.
One of the factors that contribute to Mildred looking young is her participating in the sporting code of bowling. Mildred is a bowler who plays in her 55 and over bowling league and has never stopped competing in almost 50 years.
Her bowling journey began in 1983 when she joined the Golden Nuggets in Louisiana and served as the league’s secretary.
In her participation in the code, she has bowled three hours a week for the past decade, which something Mildred says keeps her young.
Mildred is still heading the Golden Nuggests in Baton Rouge and is a motivation to many women and old people in the area.
Despite been in her old age, Mildred still competes and jokingly says ‘”I play bridge three times, I have a pokeno club, I work in my church, I’m pretty busy for a 100-year-old”.
