Micah: PPL Workflow to Tighten Up

by Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

State Enterprise and Public Investment Minister, Ben Micah says PNG Power’s declared state of emergency was to overhaul the flow of its operations.

Minister Micah said not all focus will be on power facilities, but the day to day movement of staff and their work. He announced this during his tour of the SOE outreach in Madang recently.

Micah says PNG Power needs an overhaul in all its workflow operations. He said it is not only a move to replace new gas turbines, invent new billing systems or make people pay their bills, but to also keep an eye on PPL staff and what they do.

“You will be monitored with a GPS system so work time is used meaningfully and productively,” he said.

The minister is confident that putting in place a robust and workable operation is vital to bring PNG Power back to good days.

SOE Controller and retired Captain Tom Ur says the company must go through a major shakeup and cut down on all unnecessary expenditure.

The SOE declaration is set to end on the 22nd of February, with Minister Micah to present a report to cabinet.
