by Bethanie Harriman – EMTV News, Lae

Mumenteng Village in the Bulolo district received its disaster relief supplies yesterday.

Bulolo has 110 ward areas.  So far, two wards have received their share of relief supplies while the rest will get theirs throughout this year.

Bulolo district administration is slowly reaching out to its people.

Its ward areas are getting relief assistance from its government.

All wards had their own struggles during the drought last year.

This year, the district administration is giving relief supplies to all of them.

Tuk Tuki a Ward 15 elder said the people of Bulolo continue to get help.

“Our district is slowly giving us rice,” said Tuki.

People in the district have received a steady supply of disaster relief food assistance.

Last year, the Morobe Provincial Government sent assistance to Waria.

The district sent food to Koviak Village in Wau and several others. This year the work continues.

Last year, the National Government through, Finance Minister, James Marape, instructed MPs to allocate K2 million kina towards disaster relief assistance in their districts.

But, some places have received very little assistance and some close to nothing.

Deputy Opposition Leader and Bulolo MP, Sam Basil, presented the rieflief supply to both places on behalf of the district administration.

“I can’t comment for other districts, I cannot comment on other memebers of parliament, but I think they are responsible to their people like I am,” said Basil.
