The Niugini Table birds National Youth Football tournament ended on a high note with Madang taking outthe Under 17 and 20 titles.
A total of 18 teams participated atthe National SportInstitute in Goroka.
The tournament was hailed a success asthe Niugini table birds sponsored National Youth Men'’s Tournament saw teams from Manus, Madang, Port Moresby (NCD PSSA &PMSA), Markham, Lae (LFA & Lahi), Wau, Belolo, and host Goroka part take inthe week-long event.
The finals watched by enthusiastic soccer fans withnessedthe Under -17 team from Madang slam in three goals to beat Lahi with one goal to claimthe top prize.
The U20 final saw Madang overcome stiff opposition fromthe Port Moresby boys to defendthe title.
PNGFA CEO Dimirit Mileng expressed gratitude towards Niugini Tablebirds for makingthe tournament possible for boththe men and women.
He added that every player’s participation inthe tournament was valuable with a satisfactory outcome.
Goroka Soccer President Cathy Agunam said it was a tournament that displayed some impressive talent in football and encouraged all teams to train harder for the next tournament.
